(By correspondent Tang Jiayue)On March 17, a special class meeting was held in Conference Room 204 of the Comprehensive Building at Wuhan Institute of Technology. Thirteen students of the 2025 UTS program from the School of Economics, Law and Business (Intellectual Property School) and the School of Computer Science and Engineering (School of Artificial Intelligence) attended offline, together with Ms. Liu Lijun from the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of Wuhan Institute of Technology. Ms. Josephine Lao, program coordinator of the joint training program at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia, joined the meeting online.
The meeting covered in-depth discussions on topics including university introduction, major analysis, academic planning, pathways for further study and career development. It also charted the course for the 2025 new students of the program and launched a new chapter in the "3+1/3+2" international innovative talent training between Wuhan Institute of Technology and the University of Technology Sydney.

At the class meeting, Ms. Josephine Lao, program coordinator for the joint training program at the University of Technology Sydney in Australia, extended a warm welcome to the students online and gave a detailed introduction to UTS’s educational strengths and program features. As one of Australia’s largest comprehensive universities with a history of more than a century, UTS is a world-renowned research-intensive institution. The university provides all-round support for program students, including high-quality resources such as the HELP Centre for academic support, on-campus medical and psychological counseling services, and a career development center. Ms. Josephine earnestly urged the students to cherish their three years of study in China, consolidate their language foundation and deepen their professional knowledge. She also expressed her sincere anticipation by saying, “I’ll be waiting for you on the campus in Sydney in three years!”
Ms. Liu Lijun from the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of Wuhan Institute of Technology stated that the university highly values its strategic cooperation with UTS and will continue to ensure smooth program articulation and service support. She placed high expectations on the students: to cherish the international learning opportunity, strengthen their professional foundation, improve cross-cultural communication skills, and lay a solid foundation for future development. The International Office will further optimize management procedures to ensure every student makes a smooth transition to overseas study.
During the interactive session of the class meeting, students had active exchanges with the teachers. It is reported that the employment rate of UTS graduates exceeds 90%, with an average annual salary of around 80,000 Australian dollars. These promising prospects inspire students to strive for excellence.
This class meeting built consensus, clarified pathways, and demonstrated the fruitful results of collaborative education between Wuhan Institute of Technology and the University of Technology Sydney. With the in-depth advancement of the 3+1/3+2 articulation program, the two universities will continue to join hands to build a new channel for international talent cultivation, helping more students step onto the global stage and achieve dual leaps in academic and career development.
